HisBA Gala

With heartfelt gratitude and sincere enthusiasm, I invite you to join us for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston’s

38th Annual Gala, Noche de Alebrijes, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Omni Houston Hotel.

This special evening will honor our journey, celebrate our progress, and reaffirm our commitment to the work that

lies ahead to advance Hispanics in the legal profession.

This year’s theme, Noche de Alebrijes, captures the vibrant spirit, creativity, and resilience of our community. Just

as alebrijes--the colorful, imaginative figures of Mexican folk art--bring together bold expression and cultural

richness, HisBA unites a wide range of voices, experiences, and ideas to build a legal profession that is more

reflective, responsive, and representative.

We are honored to feature a keynote fireside chat with Travis Torrence, Head of Legal for Shell USA. A respected

legal executive and passionate advocate for fairness and opportunity, Travis embodies mentorship, authenticity, and

service. His insights on leadership, identity, and opening doors for others will inspire us all.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, HisBA awarded more than $82,000 in scholarships and stipends last

year to local law students and aspiring attorneys.

This year, HisBA is proud to announce a bold new milestone: over $100,000 in scholarships, grants, and stipends to

support law students and attorneys in our community. This milestone reflects our deepening investment in the future

of the legal profession and our belief in the power of education, opportunity, and representation.

Your sponsorship directly supports this mission and sustains vital programs such as:

•The HisBA Mentorship Program, connecting students and attorneys across the region

•Consejos Legales, offering free monthly Spanish-language legal advice to Houston area residents

•Community outreach initiatives that provide education, advocacy, and support for underserved

communities

Whether you choose to sponsor, reserve a table, or purchase tickets, your support affirms your commitment to

a legal profession that values collaboration, fairness, and opportunity for all.

Together, we are building a legacy rooted in action, guided by excellence, and driven by the belief that

representation matters. Let us celebrate how far we have come and recommit to the mission that unites us: to

advance, elevate, and empower the Hispanic legal community.

We are grateful for your generous support and look forward to celebrating a purposeful evening that reflects

our shared commitment to advancing Hispanics in the legal profession.

With gratitude and determination,

Ruth T. Mendez
