The First Court of Appeals is now seeking applications for the position of its Clerk of the Court.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;The Clerk of the Court for the First Court of Appeals is a hands-on, in-office position, not appropriate for teleworking, that coordinates all administrative aspects of appellate court operations. The Clerk works under the Chief Justice, and the general direction of the other justices on the Court, as well as with the Court’s Chief Staff Attorney to facilitate the smooth operation of the Clerk’s Office and the Court as a whole. The Clerk must have strong management, leadership, and communication skills and must possess the highest ethical and professional standards to effectively manage the Clerk’s Office staff and operations.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;• Responsible for human resource management, including training, supervising, and evaluating the work of others.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;• Oversees the Court’s Network Specialist and manages the Court’s information technology and development.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;• Takes initiative in recommending new approaches that could simplify filing and retrieval systems and protection of vital records.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;• Supervises the preparation and forwarding of records for review by higher courts. Certifies the opinions and judgments of the Court to the proper trial courts.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;• Responsible for collecting fees and costs. Assists in transferring cases between courts. Maintains all organizational and governmental records required by the State.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Lato"&gt;• Responsible for facilities management.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Located in downtown Houston, the Harris County Attorney’s Office represents Harris County government, the Harris County Flood Control District, the Harris County Toll Road Authority, and the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network in all civil matters, including lawsuits. The office also provides legal advice to county officials and employees.&lt;/p&gt;

    &lt;p&gt;Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional weekends and holidays as necessary.&lt;/p&gt;

    &lt;p&gt;This job typically operates in a professional office environment, and the employee in this role uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners/copiers, and phones.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;This is largely a sedentary role, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;The selected candidate may be eligible to participate in the HCAO telework program.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Compensation:&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;The base compensation for this position will be determined on the candidate’s qualifications and the pay of other employees in the job function. Total compensation includes attractive paid leave programs, health benefits, and retirement plans.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;In addition, the position is eligible for the accrual of compensatory time off for hours worked over 40 in a workweek, consistent with Harris County personnel policies and procedures.&lt;/p&gt;

    Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.&lt;br&gt;
