Founded in 1988, the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston is a nonpartisan, nonprofit professional organization dedicated to serving the public interest by cultivating the science of jurisprudence, promoting high standards of integrity, honor, and professional courtesy among lawyers, establishing a closer relationship among Hispanic lawyers, and cooperating with other bar associations and local community, legal, and governmental organizations. Over the Association’s twenty-eight year history, it has focused on promoting the representation and advancement of minorities, particularly Hispanics. To further this mission, the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston sponsors numerous scholarship programs.
HisBA’s annual President’s Day Gala raises the primary funds essential to support HisBA’s scholarship programs. Annually, HisBA awards scholarships to Houston area high school students and law school students. In most recent years, HisBA has been able to award almost $30,000 in scholarships each year due to the generous funds raised through President’s Day.
